I appreciate Bill Hicks for his unapologetic social criticism, and It’s sad he passed away just when he was reaching a new career high. However, I don’t enjoy his comedy – it just doesn’t make me laugh. I know if Bill were to read this, he’d proceed to either laugh about how stupid I am or go into a rage of obscenities. That is my point, although he was great at what he did, I think comedy wasn’t the best expression of his talent. His goal wasn’t to entertain through laughter.

@Jkavlier, seeing “BILL HICKS” on a marquee isn’t quite marketing kid, and Bill didn’t need a marquee when he was in the UK either. At least people are learning something when they pay money to see him rather then pay money for a Big Mac at McDonalds and dying months later of heart failure or cancer. Or even alcohol commercials I see every other 30 seconds, just a reminder that alcohol is the number 1 deadliest drug in America! Next time use your brain when you say something stupid like that.

Was the billboard in front of the venue “marketing”? Were the TV and radio spots that promoted this show “marketing”?

@stferdinandhalifax No, I got it. This is as cheap a laugh as a comedian can get. Bill Hicks is one of the best ever, but this is a pretty overdone topic. Just cheap laughs relying on stereotypes like all marketers are trying to sell faulty products or things that harm people. Perhaps you should take a remedial debate course since your rebuttal has no substance whatsoever. My argument still stands: someone marketed this show to all the people in the audience. Were those marketers evil too?
